Greetings From the President of A-PHPBA
It is a great pleasure and honor to invite you to attend the 6th Biennial Congress of the Asian-Pacific Hepato-Pancreato-Biliary Association (A-PHPBA) to be held from 7 to 10 June 2017 in Yokohama, Japan. After our very successful five previous biennial meetings including the 5th in Singapore, this is the first joint meeting with the Japanese Society of Hepato-Biliary-Pancreatic Surgery (JSHBPS, 29th Annual Congress).
Originating from The Asian Society of Hepato-Biliary-Pancreatic Surgery (ASHBPS) established by our Honorary President Prof. Tadahiro Takada in 1991, the A-PHPBA is now a growing society with 573 members from all over the Asia-Pacific region as well as some countries in the Americas and Europe. The Asia-Pacific region is the most populous region in the world and it is also the most densely affected area with HPB diseases. It is our mission to improve education, training, innovation, and patient care in this field. The Yokohama meeting will be an ideal opportunity for us to exchange our research findings, best clinical practices, and HPB specific training. We are expecting more than additional 2000 JSHBPS members to join our Biennial Meeting sessions, and in exchange, we, A-PHPBA members are free to join JSHBPS sessions because the official language of all sessions is English.
Yokohama is the first harbor city opened to the world as the entrance to Japan more than 150 years ago. It is also a city of art and culture. I hope you will have fruitful scientific discussions and also enjoy your stay in Yokohama.
Professor Norihiro Kokudo
President of A-PHPBA Executive Committee
